Fuel Technician

About The Role

Heathrow Hydrant Operating Company is looking for a motivated Technician to join its specialist team supporting Heathrow Airport's vital aviation fuel infrastructure. Working within a 24/7 operation, you'll help ensure the safe delivery of Jet A-1 fuel from storage facilities through to aircraft across one of the world's busiest airports.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out Jet A-1 fuel quality testing and inspections.
  • Performing minor maintenance activities across fuel systems and equipment.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety, environmental and operational procedures.
  • Completing electronic and paper-based records accurately.
  • Supporting emergency response activities when required.
  • Operating company vehicles, including rigid tankers (training provided where needed).
  • Working collaboratively within a self-managing team to maintain safe and efficient operations.

This role follows a 4 on, 4 off shift pattern covering a 24/7 operation, including days, evenings and nights. Overtime opportunities may also be available.

About You

We're looking for someone who is safety-focused, mechanically minded and keen to build a long-term career within a highly regulated operational environment.

You'll ideally have:

  • A mechanical background or good understanding of mechanical systems.
  • Strong commitment to health, safety, security and environmental standards.
  • Good communication and IT skills.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A full UK driving licence.
  • The right to work in the UK and the ability to obtain airside security clearance.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills.

Desirable experience includes:

  • HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence.
  • Fuel, aviation or petrochemical industry experience.
  • Knowledge of JIG-2 standards.
  • Permit-to-work and process safety experience.
  • Confined space training.
  • Relevant technical qualifications (NVQ Level 2/3 or above).
